With more and more teachers using iPhones for both personal and work purposes – especially email, this video might make all of us think twice about how we protect ourselves. For less than £200 a hacker can easily break the 4 digit code on an iPhone or iPad in less than 2 minutes!
iPhones and iPads can automatically apply a good level of encryption and other device based security to the information held within applications on the device but this is only of any use if the user security is set up appropriately. This can be done through the use of mobile device management (MDM) software or by the owner if it is a personal device.
We would currently recommend that the following actions/settings be applied to secure the iPads and iPhones;
- Turn on and establish a complex password option (to align with the expectations for other device management) and do not use the simple password (4 pin digit) (http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iphone-tutorial-how-to-make-your-ios-device-more-secure/)
